Behind My Adoption Fee
My adoption fee isn't my price tag.
When you adopt from Fosters & Paws, your adoption fee doesn't just help the dog going home with you. It helps us continue saying yes to the next dog who needs us.
Before our dogs become available for adoption, we invest in their health, safety, and future. For some, that means routine veterinary care. For others, it can mean weeks or months of treatment, surgery, diagnostics, medication, rehabilitation, and foster care.
There's a Lot Behind That Adoption Fee
Every dog's journey is different, but these are some of the things your adoption fee helps make possible.
Veterinary Care
Veterinary exams and medical care help us make sure our dogs are healthy and ready for their next chapter.
Vaccinations
Dogs receive age-appropriate vaccinations to help protect them before they head home.
Spay & Neuter
Our dogs are spayed or neutered as part of preparing them for adoption.
Microchipping
Microchips give our dogs another layer of protection if they ever become lost.
Testing & Treatment
Depending on the dog, care may include testing, parasite treatment, medications, diagnostics, or other veterinary services.
Foster Care
Food, supplies, crates, bedding, transportation, and support help our foster families care for dogs while they wait for homes.
Rescue Gets Complicated.
A dog doesn't become less deserving because their care gets expensive.
Some dogs need emergency treatment. Some need surgery. Some need specialists, extensive diagnostics, long-term medications, or months of recovery before they're ready for adoption.
Pregnant moms may need prenatal care and safe places to raise their puppies. Newborn puppies may need around-the-clock bottle feeding. Medical dogs may require repeated veterinary visits and ongoing treatment.
We don't determine how much care a dog receives based on how much we can eventually charge for their adoption.

Rescue works because every piece supports another.
Adoption fees are one piece of that cycle. Donations, fundraising, foster families, volunteers, veterinary partners, and our community make up the rest.
Your Adoption Makes Room for Another Rescue.
When one dog goes home, a foster home opens and resources become available for another dog waiting for their chance.
