As animal lovers, we try to do our best to provide comfort and care to dogs that are injured, in pain, or ill. Many of the dogs that come into the rescue require emergency care in order to save their lives. Sadly, a decision to save a dog's life often comes down to our ability to pay for his or her veterinary care and continued healthcare needs. Sometimes, having a foster home or a hospice home ready and willing to accept a special needs dog can make all the difference in the world. Meet Oscar

Oscar was born with a hernia in his chest that required surgical repair. We stepped in to give this sweet little guy the chance he deserved, providing the urgent medical care he needed. During his initial evaluation, we also discovered a significant heart murmur that could require long-term treatment or surgery.

Recently, we took Oscar in for a follow-up exam—and received heartbreaking news. His condition is terminal. While this isn't the outcome we had hoped for, we know what we have to do; love him fiercely, for however long he’s with us, and make every moment count.

Veterinary care is our greatest expense, but it's dogs like Oscar who remind us why we do this. Your support—whether through donations or purchases from our Shop—makes it possible for us to say “yes” to dogs who need us the most.
